The Cycle - Illustrated

Clouds heave and roll as their bright flesh bask in a blue and fading sea
Like squirming bait on an invisible hook
Awaiting the hungry bite of night.

Darkness swallows up the clouds and the hook is set as night is pierced by the moon
That painful hole in the sky.

Then morning reels in the night, fighting, like the catch of the day
and their hungers are never abated.
